Intended Use: Urea Test Kit (Enzyme Coupling Method) is intended for quantitative in vitro determination of UREA concentration in serum on photometric systems and auxiliary diagnosis for kidney function assessment. Urea is the end-product of protein metabolism. With the deamination, amino acid in vivo will be broken down into ketonic acid and NH3 which enters into the urea circulation and produces urea with CO2 in hepatocyte. The generation of urea is determined by protein absorbtion, the metabolism of tissue protein and the condition of liver function. More than 90% of urea in vivo will be excreted by the kidney. Under the condition of constant food intake and metabolism in vivo, the concentration of urea in blood is determined by the capability of renal excretion. The increasing concentration of urea in serum can be seen in the following three circumstances: (1) Renal increasing used to be seen in acute glomerulonephritis, end-stage renal disease, renal failure, chronic pyelonephritis and toxic nephritis, etc. (2) Prerenal increasing used to be seen in hyperemesis, pylorochesis, ileus and long-term diarrhea, etc. (3) Postrenal increasing used to be seen in prostate gland enlargement, lithangiuria and bladder tumor, etc. Declining concentration can be seen in severe liver diseases.
